MOVIE REVIEW:

Technically, Jonas Brothers: The Concert Experience is not a motion picture even though the DVD cover declared it is. The truth is it’s just 89 minutes of concert footages assembled from their Burnin’ Up Tour which took place in California in July 2008.

For those out there who can’t tell the difference between who is Kevin, Joe or Nick Jonas, fret not. This reviewer is equally as befuddled as all of you. Unless you fall into the girly demographics, I guess you won’t also know the fact that they are the hottest act on Disney Channel after High School Musical and Hanna Montana. And even if you are not familiar with their song repertoire, I’m sure those digestible pop tunes will get into your ears within minutes.

The Jonas Brothers prove they are not just flash in the pan as they play their own array of musical instruments such as guitar, drums, keyboard and moves like seasoned rock singers with excellent stage choreography and eye-popping pyrotechnics. The crowd which mostly made up of adolescent young girls screams hysterically whatever the boys serenade them with their brand of mushy love songs. Their Camp Rock co-star Demi Lovato and Taylor Swift makes a guest appearance here as well.

Intercut with footages from interviews with fans on the streets and behind-the-scene snippets, fans of the Jonas Brothers will find the DVD a rewarding experience as it include plenty of facial close-ups and energetic ripping muscles to satisfy your visual senses. Too bad, the 3D experience from the original theater version is not replicated here.

When you see never-ending shots of people lining on the streets of Times Square waiting for a glimpse of the Jonas Brothers, you wonder if this generation of the Beatles has arrived. The Jonas Brothers composed their own songs, sing, play musical instruments and possessed wholesome perfect looks and they are the youngest pop stars to grace the cover of Rolling Stones magazine. What an achievement for the group whose average age is only about 20.

This DVD acts as an introduction to the non-Jonas fans but is a must-own disc for the diehard fanbase. For me, I have yet distinguished between who is Kevin, Joe or Nick. It takes time I know as I don’t shiver nor scream easily at the sight of the Jonas Brothers unlike the average school girl.

SPECIAL FEATURES :

The DVD consists of 2 Bonus Songs "Love Bug" and "Shelf" and a 15 minutes feature, Up Close & Personal: Inside the lives of the Jonas Brothers On Tour, another repetitive behind-the-scenes special that show footages of the boys rehearsing and clowning around.

AUDIO/VISUAL:

The sound of teen girls screaming at the top of their lungs is no joke. Right here, the uninvited sound and the main music, lyrics can be clearly heard. Visually speaking, the colours and clarity for the concert sequences look much more vibrant than some of the intercut shots which look grainy and coarse.
